Yard Sale / Bake Sale / Hot Dogs
The First United Methodist Church, located on 101 First St. in Parsons will be having a yard sale/bake sale and hot dogs on Saturday, Aug. 1 from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Evans Family Reunion
The descendants of Daniel L. and Edna Shaffer Evans will hold their 45th annual reunion Saturday, August 1, 2026 at Arnold Park, Leadmine, WV hosted by the Bus Evans Family. A covered dish lunch will be served at 1:00 p.m.. Please bring a raffle gift. Horseshoe and cornhole tournaments will commence following the meal.
Mountaineer Garden Club Annual Picnic
The Mountaineer Garden Club will hold its annual picnic on Tuesday, August 4 at 6pm at Pavilion #2 in Mill Race Park. This year we are inviting anyone who is interested in finding out about the club and possibly joining, as well as Yard of the Month recipients from 2025 and 2026, to come to the picnic. Hamburgers, sides and water will be provided but additional covered dishes are welcome. If you plan to attend the picnic, please RSVP by texting 304-642-8773 by August 1st. Please join us!
Helmick Reunion
The 100th annual Helmick Reunion will be held Sunday, Aug. 2 at the Sugarlands Church of the Brethren. Sunday school will begin at 10:30 a.m. followed by a basket lunch at 12:30 p.m. All family and friends are welcome to attend.

Super Hero & Princess Day. Date: August 5, 2026. Super Hero @ 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Princes @ 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Each session includes: Crafts, activities, pictures. Visit from a special super hero & princess. Snacks & drinks provided.
