Art programs in Tucker County public schools will benefit from a new endowment. The new fund honors the life of Andy Evans, a young man who from an early age loved to draw, and through the years earned recognition for his artistic talents.

The Andy W. Evans Art Fund was approved by the board of Tucker Community Foundation at the May 17 meeting. Created by his parents and sister, the fund provides an opportunity for others who were touched by his life to honor his memory. The fund supports art programs and projects in the schools Andy grew up in and where he is remembered for his passion for the arts.

Family members had this to say about Andy, “From doodling in church, to drawing things he was learning about, Andy was always drawing. Those who knew him appreciated his pure love of nature. He enjoyed fishing, riding his 4-wheeler, dirt bike and street bike. He liked weight lifting, playing basketball, and music. His life, his testimony, his story helped many people. His very last words in writing reached out, urging all to have a relationship with Jesus Christ.”

Andy’s connection to the Foundation started in 2000 when he was awarded a scholarship from the Davis Fraternal Order of Eagles Fund to attend Garrett Community College. His interest in cooking landed him a position as top chef at Uno’s restaurant in Deep Creek where he was employed for many years.

Donations of any amount can be mailed to TCF, 737 William Ave., Suite 1, Davis, WV 26260; checks should be made payable to TCF-Evans Art Fund.

Online donations can be made at www.tuckerfoundation.net or www.facebook.com/tucker.commfound. The family plans to register a Run For It team so team sponsor support is another opportunity to support the fund.

Tucker Community Foundation manages one hundred eighteen endowed funds and other unrestricted income and provides programs and services throughout an eight-county region. Offices are located in Parsons and Davis. For more information on how to create an endowment, contact the Foundation’s Development Office at 304-259-5008.
