Elizabeth Nichols finished 2nd in the 100m Hurdles to collect a State Runner-Up Medal
CHARLESTON – The Tucker County Girls’ and Boys’ Track teams traveled to Charleston on Friday May 19th and Saturday May 20th to compete in the State Championship Track Meet at Laidley Field.
The Girls’ team brought home 14 medals. Elizabeth Nichols captured the best finish for Tucker County with a State Runner-Up finish in the 100m Hurdles. Nichols also collected a medal as a member of the 3rd place Shuttle Hurdle Relay team and medals were awarded to the other members of that team which included Sydney Nestor, Kelcee James and Sydney Moore. The Tucker County Girls’ placed 4th in the 4x200m Relay to collect gold ribbon medals for Emily Crosten, Sydney Moore, Sydney Nestor and Elizabeth Nichols.
Carleigh Bolyard placed 4th in the Shot Put event to collect another medal for Tucker County. Lastly, in the final event of the meet the Lady Mt. Lions 4x400m Relay team finished 5th to round out the medals for Tucker County. The 4x400m Relay team consisted of Emily Crosten, Elizabeth Nichols, Sydney Moore and Sydney Nestor.
The Tucker County Boys’ team collected 6 medals in the State Meet. Senior, Brody Strawderman led the Boys’ team as he collected a 4th place medal in the Shot Put event and a 4th place medal in the Discus Throw event. The Mt. Lions 4x800m Relay team that consisted of Luke Poling, Josh Kincaid, Jack Melnick and Will White took home medals for their 5th place finish.

Shuttle Hurdle Relay: 3rd S.Moore, K.James, S.Nestor, E.Nichols(1:07.69). Shot Put: 4th Carleigh Bolyard(34’08”).
