The Mountaintop Public Library has been a cornerstone to both the Davis and Thomas communities, as well as the Davis-Thomas Elementary Middle School, for over 40 years. The Tucker County Giving Circle is a proud supporter of the library, having awarded grants totaling $7,000 over the past four years.
Working with the school counselor, Debbie Williams, the librarian, used grant funding to make available to students, parents, and staff a selection of books with a focus on personal growth issues, such as divorce and bullying. Each year, Ms. Williams offers a Summer Reading Program, using the TCGC grant funds to purchase books and supplies; this year, more than 30 children participated.
Using the theme, “Under the Earth,” Debbie focused on dinosaurs and fossils. Great fun and learning were enjoyed by all! During the school year, Ms. Williams collaborates with DTEMS to provide regular library visits for each class, offering the students the opportunity to check out books.
The Mountaintop Public Library, located next to the Davis-Thomas Elementary Middle School, is open Monday through Friday. Check their website https://mountaintop.wvlibrary.info for the hours, as they vary from day to day. Stop by the library to explore the continually growing collection of books! Membership is always free!
