A Maryland man has been arrested and charged following a traffic stop in Tucker County.
According to the report, on Monday, August 10, officers with the West Virginia State Police observed a black Ford Escape traveling an alleged 73 mph in a 65 zone, During the ensuing traffic stop, the driver was identified as 33-year-old Kadeem Roderick Santiful of Randallstown, Maryland.
During a subsequent search by a later arriving K-9 unit, the K-9 officer alerted “the odor of controlled substances or narcotics was present in the front bumper area of the vehicle.” The officers then conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle in which approximately 112 grams of “white powdery substance suspected to be fentanyl” was located in the engine compartment. The seizure was estimated at a street value of approximately $14,560.
A digital scale with white residue, vacuum sealer, a box of sandwich bags and an additional $4,910 in the suspect’s groin area was also recovered in the search.
Santiful has been charged with one count of Controlled Substance – Manufacture or possession with intent to deliver Schedule I or II narcotic or meth, a felony. Santiful is being held at the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $75,000 cash only bond.
A preliminary hearing was set for August 18. All defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
