September has been recognized as National Service Dog Month in Tucker County. Alison Deleuere of Canine Companions and her 13-year-old Diabetic Service Dog Magnolia presented informed the Tucker County Commission of all the good work real service dogs do for people every day and was on hand for the signing of the proclamation Sept. 23. Davis Thomas Elementary Middle School also has a Therapy Dog that was obtained through Mrs. Justice and has two handlers in the school. By unanimous vote of the Tucker County Commissioners, September 2026 was proclaimed National Service Dog Month in Tucker County.
