Chris Stadelman was recently inducted into Marshall University’s W. Page Pitt School of Journalism & Mass Communications Hall of Fame during a ceremony held at Marshall.
Marshall University President Dr. Jerome Gilbert welcomed the crowd of about 180 guests Friday evening, Sept. 29. Bill Bissett, president and CEO of the Huntington Regional Chamber of Commerce, served as emcee and introduced the five inductees: Stadelman, Sean Callebs, John Hackworth, Susan Lavenski and Dave Wellman. Each made brief remarks.
According to the program for the evening, “Reporter, editor, publisher, newspaper owner, communicator and mentor. All of these words – and more – sum up Stadelman’s career, which includes publisher of The Parsons Advocate and the Standard Newspapers, as well as managing editor of the Charleston Daily Mail. Stadelman also served as chief of staff for former West Virginia Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin, and he started his own research and public affairs company, Stadelman Consulting.”
Gov. Tomblin and George Manahan did video introductions discussing Stadelman’s career. He and his wife, Kelly, split their time between Thomas and South Charleston.
The Hall of Fame was established in the 1970s, and 58 people have been inducted.
