After further consultation with the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (WVDNR), Canaan Valley NWR (CVNWR) is Federal land and considered public property.  Based on this conclusion, Sunday hunting will NOT be allowed on CVNWR.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Our partnership with WVDNR is important to U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the sportsmen and women who enjoy the resource.

In order to hunt on CVNWR, you will need a current West Virginia hunting license, a current CVNWR hunt permit that can be found at any kiosk (information panel) located near parking areas, and an obligation to follow the regulations while hunting.

For more in depth information about hunting on National Wildlife Refuges near you go to https://www.fws.gov/refuges/hunting/.  For WVDNR regulations go to http://www.wvdnr.gov/hunting/hunting_regs.shtm.  Thanks again for taking interest in your National Wildlife Refuge.
