Charleston — The West Virginia Humanities Council announces an upcoming special grant deadline of August 1, 2026, for minigrants. The state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Humanities Council offers grants to nonprofit organizations and institutions that support educational humanities programming. Due to continuing uncertainty regarding Federal funding, this will be the Council’s only grant offering in 2026.

Council minigrants support humanities projects that request $2,000 or less, including small projects, single events, lectures, small museum exhibits, and planning for larger projects. The humanities include fields of study related to the human experience, culture, and history.

For more information about the West Virginia Humanities Council grants program, contact Humanities Council Grants Administrator Erin Riebe at (304) 346-8500 or via email at riebe@wvhumanities.org. Grant guidelines and applications are available on the Humanities Council website, wvhumanities.org/grants.

The West Virginia Humanities Council, an independent nonpartisan nonprofit corporation, is the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. The Council is supported by the NEH, the State of West Virginia, and contributions from the private sector. The purposes of the West Virginia Humanities Council are educational, and its mission is to support a vigorous program in the humanities statewide in West Virginia.
