Dr. Lauren DeMarco

ELKINS, WV – Davis Medical Center welcomes Dr. Lauren DeMarco, psychiatrist. Dr. DeMarco will provide outpatient behavioral health care beginning August 1 at a clinic on the Davis Medical Center campus, 213 Main Street, Elkins.

Outpatient psychiatry is a new and highly anticipated specialty offered as part of DMC’s overall Behavioral Health program.

“Nearly 1 in 5 persons living in rural America has mental illness,” said Catherine Chua, D.O., and Chief Medical Officer for Davis Health System. “Bringing access to a full range of behavioral healthcare is something the health system has been working hard to achieve.  We are very fortunate that Dr. DeMarco has joined our team.  She brings an invaluable breadth of experience in the field.”

Dr. DeMarco is a native West Virginian, and is relocating to Elkins from Rochester N.Y., where she completed a fellowship in Forensic Psychiatry at the University of Rochester-Strong Memorial Hospital.

“I chose to work at Davis Medical Center because they have strong work values, ethics, and genuinely care about their patients and clients,” Dr. DeMarco said. “Patients are at the forefront of everything they do, and this organization is very much somewhere I can see myself working for a longer period of time.  I look forward to making a positive difference in my patients’ medical care during the most difficult times in their lives.”

“Psychiatric disease has increased significantly over the last few years, and there is definitely a need for greater access to this care, “said Dr. Chua.

In addition to her outpatient clinic, Dr. DeMarco will serve as the Medical Director for DMC’s inpatient geriatric behavioral health unit, Laurel Place. She will also oversee the outpatient group therapy programs at Broaddus and Webster Memorial Hospitals.

For an appointment with Dr. DeMarco, or more information, call the Patient Access Center at 304-637-3179.
