PARSONS – Businesses, elected officials and residents of Tucker County will once again host an event in Charleston with legislators and officials to highlight the county and celebrate the achievements of the county. Tucker County Day is slated for Feb. 10 and will celebrate “30 years of innovation, community and business” on this 30th anniversary of the 1985 flood.
Officials said the celebration is a special moment to remember how far Tucker County has come, thanks to neighbors working together with other neighbors to rebuild and uplift the community. During the day, folks will gather to meet with W.Va. Legislators and elected officials to talk about the unique challenges faced by Tucker County and that evening from 5 to 8 p.m. will feature a gathering at the West Virginia Culture Center for a celebration featuring local food and beer, short film screenings and an address from keynote speaker Allen H. Loughry II, Justice of the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia.
“This location will be the perfect venue to highlight the music, food and craft beers of Tucker County while telling the story of the heritage and future of our communities,” Anne Jones, Tucker County Development Director said recently.
All businesses, organizations and residents are encouraged to attend. Jones said there is space at the event to display and share information about what Tucker County has to offer. She said the Tucker County Career Center ProStart students will help prepare and serve local dishes and Tucker County restaurants, bakeries and breweries will showcase their food and beverages. Local musicians will be demonstrating their craft on the same stage used by Mountain Stage.

A coach bus has been reserved and will be making two stops to pick up participants. Registration for the bus is available when registering on the http://tuckercountyday.eventbrite.com/. The cost for the bus is $25. The bus will stop in Davis at the Highlander Motel at 12:30 p.m. to load those registered. The bus will make another stop to load at the Tucker County Court House in Parsons on Walnut Street at 1 p.m.
