Tiffany Higham is the newest CAC employee where she is a forensic interviewer and the Tucker County Family Advocate.
PARSONS – The Randolph/Tucker Children’s Advocacy Center has a new employee working to help children heal from abuse and violence in Tucker County.
Tiffany Higham was hired to be a forensic interviewer and to be the Tucker County Family Advocate. Higham said she works very close with families helping them through the process.
“We go to court with the victims,” Higham said. “I feel like a friend to them. I am here to help them with the healing process and get them the things they need.”
Higham said the CAC is looking to add a support group for folks in Tucker County.
“The newest thing we are trying to do is work with students that have truancy issues in the middle and high school,” Higham said. “We are trying to help them figure out ways to get to school so they can graduate.”
She said the project is brand new and said she is hoping for great outcomes.
Higham joined the staff of the RTCAC in December, coming from a background filled with helping children. She worked in a Montessori School in Colorado before moving to West Virginia. She was employed with the Elkins Mountain School for approximately five years before joining the staff at the CAC.
“Right now, I am working on my BS degree through Liberty University for crisis counseling,” Higham said.
She said she wanted to work at the RTCAC because she loves children and said she has four children of her own.
“Pre-school kids are some of my favorite,” Higham said. “I was attracted here because of helping the children and helping families through a traumatic time. It just feels right and this is where I should be.”
Higham said before starting to work at RTCAC she had never traveled to Parsons.
“I had never been to Parsons before and I absolutely love it,” Higham said. “I love that little town and everyone is so nice and so welcoming. I was nervous, but everyone has been amazing to work with and kind and helpful. I wish I was there more than two days a week.”
