The Tucker County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call Monday afternoon involving a gunshot wound to the foot. Tucker County Sheriff, B.K. Wilfong said Ed Evans, 39, of Sugarland Road in Hambleton was squirrel hunting with a 22 Hornet.
Wilfong said “He took aim at the squirrel and the gun failed to fire. When he put the gun down it discharged shooting him in the foot.”
According to Wilfong the West Virginia Department of Natural Resources will be investigating the incident as a hunting accident.
