Alain Kieny, 75, of Parsons ended his life Feb 21, 2023 while in psychic pain not fully understood by others. He was born in Lyon France on November 4,1947. He came to the United States in 1980, and lived in the Parsons area since 1988. He became a US citizen in 1995. He was a lifelong artist, photographer and avid reader. In his early professional life, he worked as a technical draftsman in Switzerland, and was also a farmer. Locally, he was a graphic artist, photographer and computer assistant.  After retiring, he was a baker and the accountant at LaFontaine Bakery which closed during the Covid pandemic. For the past 5 years, he was a committed meditator, exerciser and daily walker on the bike trail and town roads. He was a pastel painter and had exhibited his work in Thomas and Elkins. His large-format painting from historic photos of Tucker County was exhibited in the Courthouse Annex outside the County Clerk’s office during 2021. He loved his yard and garden and enjoyed making creative home improvements with improvised materials. He is survived by Mimi Kibler, his wife of 28 years. He was buried in a private ceremony with his family and friends on Saturday, February 25.  He will be dearly missed. Memorial donations may be made to Highlands Trails Foundation, P.O. Box 196, Parsons, WV 26287.
