Catherine Louise “Katty” Helmick Hinkle

obit Catharine HinkleCatherine Louise “Katty” Helmick Hinkle, age 79 years, a resident of Hambleton, departed this life Tuesday morning, August 27, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born Friday, September 1, 1933 at Hambleton,  a daughter of the late Myles Pleasant Helmick and Georgia Ann Delaney Helmick.  On February 11, 1950 at Red House, Md., she was married to Richard Allen “Dick” Hinkle, Sr., who preceded her in death May 6, 1999.  They had celebrated forty nine years of marriage.
Surviving are one son, Richard Allen Hinkle, Jr. of Hillsboro; four daughters, Evelyn Louise Cassidy and husband Phil of Hambleton, Mary Lee Isaacson and husband Todd, Phyllis “Ann” Kerns and husband Archie and Kathy Margarette Dumire and husband Jerry, all of Parsons; one aunt, Catherine Helmick Shephard of Ridgeley,  twenty grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She is the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded in death by one son, James Anthony “Tony” Arman; two daughters, Vivian Anna Hinkle and Roberta Ellen Hinkle; three brothers, Myles Junior Helmick, William Ashley Helmick and Theodore ValJean “Snuffy” Helmick; one sister, Mary Lee Burruss and one great grandson, Andrew Kelley Cassidy.
She attended the one room schools at Fork Mountain and Hambleton; and the Hamrick School.  She was an employee of the former Nella’s Nursing Home at White Gables, the Parsons Nursery, the former Dorman Mills, Kingsford Charcoal Company and she was a cook for eighteen years for the Tucker County Schools.  She was a member of the Hambleton United Methodist Church.  She enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing and embroidery.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.    Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at 1 p.m.   Pastor Loren Metzner will officiate and interment will follow at the Sunrise Cemetery at Hambleton. The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Catherine Louise “Katty” Helmick Hinkle.  Condolences may be expressed to the family at; www.lohrbarbfuneralhome.com
