Charles Calvin “Charlie” Bilby

Charles Calvin “Charlie” Bilby, 71, a resident of Hambleton, passed from this life, Tuesday, November 22, 2023, at the WV Caring Hospice Inpatient Center in Elkins.  He had been in declining health. 

Charles was born on Thursday, August 23, 1951, in Phoenix. AZ, a son of the late Freeman Guy Bilby and Mary Jane Lucas Bilby. 

Left to cherish Charles’ memory are two sisters, Janet Mullenax and companion, Mark Spicer of Elkins, and Susan Metzner of Hambleton with whom he had made his home for the past twelve years, five nieces, Michelle England and husband, Robbie, Michalla Bilby Beatty and husband, Ed, Tina Bilby Hamilton, Crystal Bilby Nelson and husband, Dave, and Michalla Daige Metzner, two nephews, Philip Mullenax and wife, Christine and Loren Metzner and wife, Erica.

Preceding him in death besides his parents was a brother, Michael Bilby.

Charles was a graduate of Maryvale High School in Phoenix, AZ.  His life’s work was developing and building aero-dynamic racing boats which allowed him to travel across the United States.  He was Arizona State Champion in Martial Arts Savate Fighting for several years. He enjoyed flying Cessna airplanes.  He participated in Kairos Prison Ministries at Huttonsville Correctional Center with beloved friends and served as a leader in Celebrate Recovery in Elkins. Charlie was a precious blessing to his beloved family, and he will truly be missed by them. 

Charles request for cremation will be honored.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.  The Hostetler Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements for Charles Calvin “Charlie” Bilby.  Send online condolences to the family at www.hostetlerfuneralhome.com.
