Donald Lee Knotts

Donald Lee Knotts, age 77 years, a resident of the Wolf Run Community, Hambleton, WV departed this life Tuesday morning, February 11, 2025, at the Mountain Living Community at Belington, WV under the care of Mountain Hospice. 

He was born Sunday, November 23, 1947, at Sugarlands, WV, a son of the late Marvin Grant Knotts and Esta Marie Martin Knotts.  On November 10, 2007 at Parsons, WV, he was married to the former Susan Nestor Gieck, who survives. 

Also surviving are three sons, Aaron Knotts and wife Katie of WV, Brandon Knotts and wife Amy of WA, and Thomas Gieck and wife Ramona of CA; two daughters, Kimberly Lawrence and husband Tim of VA, and Michele Foss and husband Michael of CA; one sister, Alta Snyder of Hambleton, WV; one son in law, Tony Martin and wife Christine of WV; eight grandchildren, Jessica Allen and husband Ryan, Tonya Martin, Aurora Knotts, Audriana Knotts, Axel Knotts, Brittani Foss-Abubo and husband Aaron, Michael Brandon Foss and wife Heather and Lauren Gieck; and four great grandchildren, Dorothea and Noe’mi Foss and Deacon and Logan Abubo; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Preceding him in death are one brother, Hubert Dale Knotts; and one sister, Opal Marie Nestor.  

He was a graduate of Parsons High School with the Class of 1966, a graduate of West Virginia University and obtained his Masters Degree from Marshall University.  Mr. Knotts was Building Construction Teacher at Tucker County High School, until his retirement.  Following his retirement, he worked as a substitute teacher.  He had worked for Todd Bolyard Construction, and Frank Roberts Construction, doing plumbing and electrical work.  He was a history buff, especially local history, and spent a lot of time during the summer months exploring local historic sites and researching the authenticity with Jeff Felton.  He was a member of the Tucker County Historical Society, and a member of the board of directors for Tucker County Senior Citizens.  He attended the Saint George Church of God.  He had a love for trains and in 2023, along with his wife, he was able to make a trip across the country.  Mr. Knotts loved farming, his cows, raising a garden and was willing to help anyone when in good health. 

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons, WV on Saturday, February 15, 2025, from 10 AM until 12 Noon.  Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 12 Noon.  The Reverend James Snyder and Reverend Carolyn Shreve will officiate and interment will follow at the Parsons City Cemetery of Parsons, WV.  The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is honored to be in charge of the arrangements for Donald Lee Knotts.  Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.lohrbarbfuneralhome.com
