Doris Lee Watring Godwin

Doris Lee Watring Godwin, 78, a resident of Brushy Fork Community went to be with her Lord on Thursday, February 13, 2020, at Broaddus Hospital in Philippi.

Doris was born on Monday, February 17, 1941, a daughter of John Joseph Watring and Vernie Eva Lipscomb Watring. She was married to Dennis Godwin who preceded her in death in 2010. They had celebrated 51 years of marriage. Doris was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Left to cherish Doris’ memory is a son, Danny Godwin and wife, Jackie of Brushy Fork, three daughters, Kathy Hissam and husband, Marty, of Parsons, Jean Streets and husband, Robert, of Brushy Fork, and Nancy Coberly and husband, Rick, of Buckhannon, six granddaughters, Debbie, Amanda, Tiffany, Shelley, Kristy, and Brittany, two grandsons, Bradley and TJ, great-granddaughters, Chellsey, Sofia and Kyleigh, great-grandsons, Denton, Emmett, Ethan, and Jaden, several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Doris in death besides her parents and husband was two infant great-grandsons, Daniel and Ethan.

She attended Preston County Schools and was a homemaker. Doris enjoyed traveling, crocheting, and working in her flower garden. She especially loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was Pentecostal by faith having attended the Way of Holiness Church in Buckhannon and St. George Church of God.

A graveside service was held at Pifer Mountain Cemetery on Saturday, February 15 at 12 noon. Rev. Pat Cassidy officiated and intermentl followed. The Hostetler Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements for Doris Lee Watring Godwin. Send online condolences to the family at www.hostetlerfuneralhome.com.
