Gary Wayne Alkire, age 48 years, a resident of Parsons, WV, departed this life Saturday afternoon June 25, 2016 at Ruby Memorial Hospital at Morgantown, WV. He had been in his usual health; however, death was unexpected.
He was born Thursday, May 9, 1968 at Baltimore, MD, a son of the late Roy Eugene and Dona Gale Poling Alkire, both preceding him in death.
Surviving are one brother, Larry Eugene Alkire of Parsons; one sister, Barbara Gale Alkire Shahan and husband Bill of Pifer Mt; four nephews and nieces, Bill, II, Tyson, Melissa and Stephanie; and seven great nieces and nephews, Tyler, Trystan, Hannah, Haley, Hadley, Abigayle and a very special great nephew and his side kick, Chase.
He was a graduate of Tucker County High School with the class of 1987. Following high school, he moved to Baltimore, MD, where he was a cab driver. He was a Methodist by faith and attended the Mt. Zion and Pifer Mountain Church’s. Gary enjoyed fishing and camping and was an avid Baltimore sports fan.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Thursday, June 30, 2016 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 1 p.m. The Reverend Todd Rhodes will officiate and interment will follow at the Pifer Mountain Cemetery at St. George, WV. The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Gary Wayne Alkire. Condolences may be expressed to the family at; www.lohrbarbfuneralhome.com.
