Janet Marie (Ketterman) Cross, 81 of Hambleton, WV passed from this life August 10, 2021 at the WVU Medicine Garrett Regional Medical Center at Oakland, MD surrounded by her family. She was born June 10, 1940 in Jenningston WV to Daniel and Mabel (Roy) Ketterman. Janet was a loving mother of three daughters Sandra Kay Cross, Myrna Lorrie Cross, and Billie Jean (Jeff) Pennington, all of Hambleton. She was the proud grandmother of Janet Ann (Jeff) Winfrey, Brandon “Goober” (fiancé Dani) Pennington, and Jacinda Pennington and great grandmother of Xavier and Dax Winfrey.

Also surviving are sisters, Mary Kathleen Mallow, Deloris (Brad) Brinizer, Norma Jean Knotts, brother Dave Ketterman, and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were brothers Kelly (Glenda), Danny, Melvin and sister Carol Sue Ketterman.

Janet was married to James Cross who preceded her in death. She lived much of her adult life in Mentor, Ohio. As a single parent, she worked at Ohio Rubber Company, but still found the energy to come home and take care of her family. Those who knew Janet remember her priorities in life revolved around her family and friends. As a mother of a child with special needs, she especially demonstrated her incredible care and devotion to the well-being of her family. She was always there to cheer her grandkids on at mud races, basketball games, and provide them with love and support.

She loved country music and enjoyed keeping up her yard and flowers. She will be remembered for her kind heart, straightforward attitude, and her unconditional love for her family. Janet was a thoughtful listener and will be missed by so many. Her strong spirit will continue to strengthen, heal, and guide those that loved her.
Her wish for cremation will be honored. A celebration of life service was held at the Flanagan Hill Community Center in Red Creek on Sunday, August 15. Visitation was held at noon and service at 1 p.m. followed by a fellowship dinner.  The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements for Janet Marie Ketterman Cross.  Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.lohrbarbfuneralhome.com
