John Osler Darnell Sr.

Mr. John Osler Darnell Sr., age 63, of Grandview Ave., Belington departed this life Wednesday evening October 9, 2013 at his home and death was unexpected.
He was born April 9, 1950, at Digman Community, Nestorville, WV a son of the late John Albert and Mabel Virginia (Arnold) Darnell.

 
obit Darnell, John Sr_ PicHe was survived by three children: John Darnell Jr. and wife Lisa of Ashville, OH, Ricky Darnell of Ashville, OH, and Melissa Shahan and husband Jeff of Belington; four sisters: Louise Righman of Moatsville, WV, Allie Lou Raymond of Gainesville, FL, Shirley Duke of Murrieta, CA, and Lillian White of Parsons, WV. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

 
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one infant son Rocky L. Darnell, two brothers Donald D. Darnell, infant Lee Roy Darnell; four sisters: Georgia Young, Josephine Nestor, Mildred Moore, and infant Sarah Darnell.

 
Mr. Darnell attended the schools of Barbour County and retired from the IBEW Union Local # 17 after 46 years of service, where he worked many years as a Journeyman Lineman. He attended the First United Methodist Church at Parsons and was a Methodist by faith.

 
Friends were received at the Talbott Funeral Home in Belington from 5-9 p.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2013 and the family  also received friends on Sunday 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. the funeral hour when final rites were conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Pastor Downing Gregory officiating. Interment  followed in the Mt. Zion Cemetery near Nestorville. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to­ your favorite charity. The Talbott Funeral Home in Belington is in charge of the arrangements for Mr. John Osler Darnell Sr. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.talbottfuneralhome.com
