Loye Ira Burns, Sr.

Loye Ira Burns, Sr., 78, passed away October 27, 2013 at his home in Thomas, WV. He was born July 9, 1935 at Douglas, WV, a son of the late Ira Glen Burns and Dora (Losh) Burns. He was preceded in death by his wife Suzanne Marie (Dumire) Burns on September 19, 1995, two sons Loye Ira Burns, Jr. , Michael Gene Burns and one sister Regina Fresh.

Mr. Burns is survived by two sons, Jeffray Douglas Burns, Thomas WV, Kenneth Wayne Burns, Cool Springs, WV, five daughters, Anna Elizabeth Atzenhofer, Morgantown, WV, Command Sergeant Major Doreena Burns Miles, Fort Bragg, NC, Joyce Marlene McVicker, Wilmington, NC, Zetta Rani Hupf, Kaukauna, WS, Amber Suzanne Perry, Glenville, WV, one brother Herman R. Burns, Thomas, WV, two sisters Zetta Sweitzer, Oakland, MD, Lynn Lipscomb, Parsons, WV, 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Burns served his country in the U.S. Army. He was as a truck driver and had been employed at Silver Knob and Nelson Trucking for the last five years, before his retirement. He was a member of the VFW Oakland Post 10077, and was Protestant by faith. “Burnside” was known as “Mr. Fix It “in the neighborhood.

Friends were received at Hinkle Funeral Home Tuesday, October 29, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the funeral hour. Rev. Gary Thomas officiated and interment followed in Rose Hill Cemetery.
