Michael Edward Lipscomb, age 63 years, a resident of Hambleton, WV departed this life Thursday, April 24, 2025 at his home. He had been in declining health although death was unexpected.
He was born Saturday, December 30, 1961 at Parsons, WV a son of Samuel Doyle Lipscomb who survives at Location, St. George, WV and the late Dorothy Lou “Dot” Jordon Lipscomb. On July 10, 1992 at Oakland, MD he was married to the former Phyllis Elaine Griffith, who preceded him in death, December 16, 2015. Surviving are two brothers, Samuel Doyle Lipscomb of Morgantown, John Fitzgerald Lipscomb and wife Cindy, of Location, St. George, WV; one sister, Pamela Ann Glotfelty and companion Rich Ashby of Oakland, MD; two step-sons, Jeffery Lynn Griffith and wife Kim of Wheeling and Christopher Scott Earnest of Tygarts Valley; one step-daughter, Pamela Diane Kerr and husband William “Buck” of TX; eight grandchildren, Holli, Aaron, Nathaniel, Mason, Gabrielle, Charli, Donald and Layna; several great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was a graduate of Tucker County High School with the Class of 1980. He worked for the Kingsford Charcoal Company, retiring after thirty-seven years. He had attended Hendricks Pentecostal Church. Mike was an excellent cook, enjoyed gardening and canning, and loved camping.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Tuesday. Final Rites will be conducted at the funeral home, Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at 11:00 AM. Pastor Sue Metzner will officiate and interment will follow at the McNeeley Cemetery at Hendricks, WV.
