Neil L. Moore, age 58 years, a resident of the Clover Run Community, Parsons, W.Va., departed this life Friday, October 25, 2013 at his home. He had been in his usual health. Death was sudden and unexpected and attributed to a massive heart attack.
He was born Sunday, May 29, 1955 at Parsons, W.Va., a son of the late Brown Moore and Dorothy Evelyn Price Moore, who survives at Clover Run, Parsons, W.Va. On August 18, 1979 at Leadmine, W.Va., he was married to the former Nancy Lea Watring, who survives.
Also surviving are one son, Bryan Neil Moore and wife Alena of Mountain Lake Park, Md.; one brother, Terrance Brown “Terry” Moore and wife Debbie of Blackman Heights, Hambleton, W.Va.; one sister, Nancy Lou Moore Shaffer and husband John of Nestorville, W.Va.; his mother-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Knotts Watring; two sisters-in-law, Mary Jane Smith and husband Wayne and Rebecca Ann Filler and husband Rick, all of Horseshoe Run Road; six nephews; one niece and ten great -nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Berdean O. Watring; one nephew, Steven Shaffer.
He was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1973, of which he was a four year member of F.F.A. and Vice President, a member of the Yearbook staff, the Journalism Club and the Parsons Echo school paper, and a teacher’s aide. He was a graduate of Davis & Elkins College with the class of 1998, of which he was a member of the Phi Beta Lambda, a national business fraternity and Beta Alpha Beta Fraternity. He was an employee of Citizens Bank of WV, where he was a personal banker and licensed in investments. He was a member of the Parsons Lions Club of which he was the Treasurer. Neil loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, sports and movies.
The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. The Rev. Neil Precht and The Rev. James Snyder will officiate and interment will follow at the Pifer Mountain Cemetery at St. George, W.Va..
