Virginia L. Winn

Virginia L. Winn of Boca Raton, Florida died October 23, 2016. She was born September 28, 1913 to James Edward and Pauline Orr Little in Parsons, West Virginia. Virginia was 103 years old.


She graduated from Allegheny High School in Cumberland, MD. While attending West Virginia University she became a member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority, served as princess to Queen Silvia the Fifth at the Mountain State Forest Festival and represented her district at the Mercer-McDowell County centennial celebration. After graduating she became a teacher in the Davis and Parsons schools.

In 1937, Virginia married J. Frank Smith of Elkins. Following World War II they moved to Marietta, OH where they lived until 1964 when they retired to Florida. Frank died in 1974. Virginia remarried on January 1980 to General (retired: Air Force) Raymond L. Winn who died in 1991. Virginia was predeceased by her parents, both husbands, J. Frank Smith and Raymond L. Winn, her sister and her husband, Aura Jean and Max V. Kite and a nephew, William Harris. She is survived by a sister, Judith Little Smith and her husband, Frank D. Smith Jr. of Lumberton, NJ; four nieces, Sharon Kite and Becky Harris (Bryan Cochran) of Charlotte, NC, Linda Massey and husband Richard Pelletier of Clinton, WA, Deborah Ann Smith and husband David A. Seibert of Durham, NC and nephew, Frank D. Smith III of Lumberton, NJ; two great nephews, six great nieces and two great, great nephews. Services and interment were privately held in the Parsons (WVA) City Cemetery.
