Dear Neighbor,
As we all debate the merits and demerits of the proposed data centers in our neighborhood, and consider their impact on our health, economy, and future tourism, it might brighten your day to know that President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB), passed in May 2025, will grant the companies that build them a 100% tax deduction for just about everything they build and install in the facilities in the first year of operation. It’s like you deducting the entire cost of your house from your income taxes the day you buy or build it… if you were a corporation. Check § 70301 of the OBBB for details.
In addition to paying higher electricity rates, breathing dirtier air, damaging our environment, and risking less snow from the heat canopy, we, the taxpayers, will pay for all these improvements.
