Letter to Tucker County Residents:
EMS presence in Canaan Valley is very important to the Tucker County Ambulance Authority, its citizens and visitors. On July 27, 2021, Tucker EMS received correspondence from the Canaan Valley Volunteer Fire Dept. requesting EMS vacate the leased space known as Station III in Canaan Valley and remove all possessions within 30 days.
EMS staffing of Station III was never terminated; it was diminished this past year because of the COVID 19 epidemic and the reduced activity at the valley resorts as a result. The staffing policy for Station III has always been predicated upon the frequency of visitor activity at the resorts and other special events that draw people to the valley.
In an attempt to maintain our presence at the CV VFD facility, a detailed proposal was presented for the staffing of Station III in anticipation of increased demand for EMS service in the future. The proposal was rejected outright. As you read this, EMS is in the process of vacating the facility. All service to the Canaan Valley area for the foreseeable future will originate from Station II in Davis.
We anticipate an increase in activity this fall and winter with Timberline in business again. It is our intention to make every attempt to acquire a similar facility in the valley from which to operate. We welcome any comments or suggestions you may have.
Our mission remains the same — to provide the best emergency medical service we can to all our neighbors and visitors to Tucker County.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
