I am SO MAD!!! On Wednesday, August 3rd the employees of the Parsons clinic were told without any previous warning that Kathy Kahler had been dismissed AND that the clinic would no longer be a family practice facility but instead an “Urgent Care”. That’s right folks, soon we will no longer be able to get our prescriptions refilled at the clinic!!
During the meeting Jon Steen, a representative from Davis Health Systems, stated that anyone with questions could contact him at 304-637-3158 or email him at steen.jon@davishealthsystem.org. Ironically the next day an ad appeared in the Parsons Advocate about THREE new family practice personnel being added in Elkins!!!
I contacted him by email this morning and told him there are HUNDREDS of patients in the Parsons area that have NO OTHER ACCESS TO HEALTH CARE within a manageable distance! Many are elderly or others who cannot drive and it costs $10 PER TRIP to get to Thomas, Davis or St. George via the senior center. There is NO OTHER public transportation!!! I also told him it was not only GROSS NEGLIGENCE but CALLOUS DISREGARD for all the patients who must now move their medical records elsewhere! I also think this amounts to medical malpractice!!! I left him a phone message too and asked for him to call me back.
So, everyone that is hurt by this needs to give Jon Steen a call and when he doesn’t answer his phone BE SURE to leave him a message with your name and number to tell him that you want him to call you! If you can email him, do that as well!!!
Needless to say, my & Dave’s medical records are going to the clinic in St. George. I don’t want another penny to go into Davis Health Systems!!
