It is late in the year but I just saw my first fawns this past week. A doe and a set of triplets walked across the road in front of me just down from my house. I could tell they were not very old by the way they were walking and she was so careful with them. That shows that there is a goodly amount of browse for the doe is sustain three babies. I just hope they all make it through and reach maturity. The amount of rain we had this spring should have been more than enough to make sure they have plenty to eat.
It was early and still cool so she was moving them to someplace quiet and shady to spend the day away from flies. The mother just finds a quiet place and nestles the little ones down and they will stay until she comes back for them, not moving or making any noise. Animals are amazing how they have adapted to living alongside humans and domesticated animals.
“If only people could take a page from that playbook and live more harmonious.”
We, as a society, are our own worst enemy. We can’t agree on anything, we can’t solve simple disputes without the threat of war, we can’t carry on civil conversations or relationships without erupting into turmoil. It seems that all our world is anymore is turmoil. There is no peace, no quiet, no reflection just a lot of nothingness noise.
I long for the days of just hearing nothing but nature. A small stream bubbling past, a bird in the bush, the quiet brush of wind in the tall grass, the sigh of a tree in the breeze. Now it is all clutter, I don’t think a lot of people could actually handle just being quiet.
Momma Said, “I think it would be a great change to just hear the world go by for a change.”
