Five Rivers Public Library’s summer reading program was June 8, 15 and 22, the theme was “Ocean of Possibilities”
Books were read to the children weekly and this year it was all about the ocean and the animals that live there.
The crafts, games, snacks & activities were geared towards the theme of the Summer Reading Program. There was fun painting, parachute game, water balloon battle, digging for treasure in the sand, walking the plank, feed the shark game, treasure map with codes among other crafts and games and a treasure chest filled with prizes for the kids.
All children received goodie bags, with the top three readers receiving a special tote filled with a variety of items. Our top three readers were, 1st place went to Ryleigh Blue, 2nd place was Quinn Hovatter and 3rd place went to Gage Hovatter.
Of the reading lists that were turned in, 703 books were read for the 3 weeks of the program. To encourage the kids to read, there were several businesses who contributed certificates to the reading program. McDonalds, Fat Olives, Depot Diner, The Dugout, Mr. Pizza, Grandma’s custard and Subway. We appreciate the businesses for their support! We also appreciate all the parents, grandparents, etc. who brought the children to our program! The kids had a great time as did the volunteers and library staff!
