After Nearly 40-Year Hiatus, Tucker County Welcomes Back Wrestling

It has been nearly 40 years since Tucker County High School outfitted a wrestling team, but that hiatus has come to an end for the 2026 winter sports season. Six student-athletes—Juniper Judy, Mitch Neil, Rachel Hile, Emi Arnold, AJ Maniscarco, and Evan Hexom—all donned the black and gold in a match last week at East Hardy High School.

The team competed in five duals at the Baker Brawl tournament, with Mitch Neil securing a win. Substantial progress was shown by the first-year team across the board. The squad is coached by Leonard Gruppo, who is excited about the startup of the program and hopes this season sparks more interest for next year.
