The Tucker Valley Lady Wildcats traveled to Barbour County to take part in the Belington Winter Classic. In the first round, Tucker was matched up against Barrackville Middle. The contest remained tight throughout, with Barrackville holding a 9-8 lead after the first quarter and a 15-14 lead at the half.

The Wildcats continued to battle back, outscoring their opponents 12-5 to start the second half as Tucker Valley took a 26-20 lead. However, the fourth quarter brought a scoring drought for the Lady Wildcats, who managed only 2 points to Barrackville’s 11. The final score was 31-28 in favor of Barrackville. Mia Lambert led the Wildcats with 13 points, Ally Wright contributed 6, and Marlee Evans added 5.

Tucker moved on to the third-place game against Kasson Middle on Saturday morning. Tucker found themselves on the trailing end of a low-scoring first period, with Kasson holding a 4-3 edge. The Wildcats jump-started their offense in the second period, pouring in 17 points to take a 20-12 lead into halftime. Tucker Valley maintained their lead through the third and fourth quarters, never trailing in the second half, to secure a 38-30 win.

Ally Wright led the Wildcats with 10 points, followed closely by Mia Lambert with 9 and Marlee Evans with 5. For their outstanding efforts throughout the weekend, Lambert and Evans were both selected to the All-Tournament Team.

The Wildcats return to their home gym on Thursday, January 8th, against Webster County. Tip-off is set for 5:45 PM.
