The Davis Thomas Bears golf team got the middle school fall sports season underway last week with three matches. The Bears’ first traveled to Cacapon Springs for an eight-team match that saw DT garner a respectable 5th-place overall team finish.
Brothers Noah and Nolan Luzier led the team, shooting 51 and 53, followed by Hunter Lipscomb’s 56 and Bryson Mihalko’s 65.
Davis Thomas then traveled to the Polish Pines in Keyser for a six-team match that saw the Bears make the podium with a third-place finish. Nolan Luzier had himself a day, shooting the second overall lowest score of 45, just two strokes behind the winner. Noah Luzier followed big brother closely with a round of 56, with Lipscomb shooting a 58 and Mihalko with a 69.
The Bears finished their busy week with a trip to Fisher Mountain in Franklin, where the Bears again gained a top-three finish, coming in third overall. Nolan Luzier was the low scorer once again, shooting a 49. Miles Henderson followed closely with a 51. Lipscomb came in with a score of 55, which was the lowest score among all female participants. Mihalko finished with a round of 61. Jackson Quattro and Noah Luzier both recorded a 66.
The Bears are set to hit the course again next week with a home match on Sept. 2 at Canaan Valley.
