The Tucker County Lady Mt. Lions had a strong week on the volleyball court, picking up solid wins over Tygarts Valley and Union.
Tucker County opened the week Monday on the road at Tygarts Valley. The JV team dropped a close first set, 23-25, but bounced back in a big way. The Lady Mt. Lions took the next two sets 25-10 and 25-13 to win the match. Ava Henderson, Lily Bland, Allie Wright, and Nettie Nelson helped spark the comeback with strong serving throughout the match.
The varsity squad also came away with a sweep, defeating Tygarts Valley 25-18, 25-8, and 25-15. Jacey Helmick and Cortney Shaffer helped set the tone with powerful serving.
Back at home Thursday, Tucker County kept things rolling with another three-set sweep, this time over Union. The Lady Mt. Lions cruised to wins of 25-4, 25-10, and 25-16. Izzy Kitzmiller led the offense with eight kills, followed by Everley Evans with five. Bella Carr and Morgan Simmons also stood out with consistent serving.
Tucker County has continued to get important contributions from throughout the roster. Kiley Snyder has provided valuable versatility off the bench, while Rachel Hile and Addy Johnson have made key plays defensively.
Tucker County will hit the road again Tuesday to take on Moorefield before traveling to Morgantown Thursday for a tri-match.
