Lady Mt. Lions Volleyball Drop 3 Matches in Busy Week

ELKINS – The Tucker County High School Volleyball team traveled to Elkins for a Tri-Match with the Lady Tigers and East Fairmont on Tuesday October 27th.

The Lady Mt. Lions faced off against East Fairmont in their first match. In the first set both teams went back and forth as the Lady Bees got the narrow set win 25-23 over Tucker County. Tucker County then could not force a third set as East Fairmont took the second set 25-18 to give the Lady Bees the match win over Tucker County 2-0.

Tucker County then took on Elkins in their last match of the night. In the first set Elkins won by the final score of 25-17. The Lady Tigers then took the second set 25-18 to give Elkins the match win over Tucker County 2-0.
HAMBLETON – The Lady Mt. Lions Volleyball team hosted East Hardy for a JV / Varsity match on Senior night and the last match of the regular season on Wednesday October 28th.

In the JV match East Hardy won the first set 25-5. The Tucker County JV could not force a third set as they fell to the Lady Cougars JV in the second set 25-7 to drop the JV match to East Hardy 2-0.

The Varsity teams then faced off in a best of 5 set match. East Hardy got off to a quick 9-1 lead and never trailed as they cruised to a first set win 25-3. Tucker County showed some fight in the second set as the Lady Mt. Lions led 5-1 early in the second set. The Lady Cougars then responded to tie the score at 5-5. East Hardy then surged ahead 10-6, but the Lady Mt. Lions outscored East Hardy 4-1 to make the score 11-10 East Hardy. The visitors then outscored Tucker County 14-5 the rest of the set to take the second set by the score of 25-15. In the third set the Lady Mt. Lions got behind early as East Hardy scored the first 9 points to lead 9-0. Tucker County tried to fight back as they got the score to 16-6 East Hardy. The Lady Cougars then responded again as they outscored Tucker County 9-4 the rest of the set to get the set win 25-10 and East Hardy got the match win 3-0.

Tucker County Seniors Emily Simmons and Zoe Nestor were honored by their coaches before the varsity match.
Tucker County was scheduled to travel to East Hardy on November 2nd for Sectional play. For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
