Tucker County’s Katie Hicks Places 10th at State Meet

ONA – The State Track Meet was held at Cabell Midland High School on Saturday October 31st. The Lady Mt. Lions Cross-Country team traveled south to compete in the State Championship Meet. Tucker County’s Katie Hicks was the Lady Mt. Lions top finisher as she placed 10th overall with a time of 21:31.05. The top ten finish by Hicks put her on the podium and placed her on the Class “A” All-State List.

The Class “A” Team State Championship was won by Williamstown as they placed 4 runners in the top 7 positions. The Class “A” individual State Championship was won by Williamstown’s Ella Hesson with a time of 20:19.67. Williamstown also captured the Individual State Runner-Up as Brianna Winsett placed 2nd with a time of 20:39.56. Doddridge County placed 2nd as a team to collect the Class “A” State Runner-Up hardware.

The Tucker County Girls’ team placed 7th overall as a team in Class “A”. Erin Chambers took home a 27th place finish for Tucker County with a time of 22:26.36. Hannah Hardy followed with a time of 24:08.28 for the Lady Mt. Lions to give her a 40th place finish. Tucker County’s Karlee Smith was close behind in 42nd place and she posted a time of 24:19.25. Addie Buckley was next across the finish line for the Lady Mt. Lions in 56th place with a time of 25:53.40. The rest of the Tucker County runners would finish as follows: 57th-Brianna Gooden(25:58.95) and 60th-Alaira Hudson(26:12.68).

The Class “A” Boys’ Championship was won by Ritchie County. The Class “AA” Girls Championship was captured by Fairmont Senior and the Class “AA” Boys’ Champion was Frankfort. Then the Class “AAA” Girls’ Championship was taken by Morgantown and the Class “AAA” Boys’ Champion was University. For more info go to RunWV.com or TuckerCountySports.Com.
