LADY MT. LIONS VOLLEYBALL FALLS TO UNION AT HOME 3-2

HAMBLETON – The Tucker County Girls’ Volleyball team hosted Union on Tuesday September 7th for their first home match of the season.  The best of 5 set match was close throughout, but the Lady Tigers from Union fought back to win the 4th and 5th set to take the match 3-2.

The first set showed Tucker County pulling away slightly for a 13-7 advantage.  The Lady Mt. Lions then led 19-12 before Union surged back to tie the set at 24-24.  Tucker County then scored 2 straight points to give them the first set 26-24.  In the second set Union fought back as they never trailed as they jumped out to a 17-5 lead.  The Lady Tigers then finished off the set to win by the score of 25-17 to tie the match at 1-1.  Set three was dominated by Tucker County as they cruised to a 25-11 win to take the 2-1 match edge.  The Lady Mt. Lions were not able to close out the match in set 4 as Union jumped out to a 6-0 lead.  Tucker County responded to take the lead 11-10, but Union bounced back on a 6-2 run.  Union then closed out the set by the final of 25-19 to force a fifth set.  In the final winner take all set to 15 the Lady Tigers forged ahead 9-5 and then 14-8.  Tucker County made it interesting as they scored 4 straight points to make the score 14-12 Union.  The visiting team then closed the set with a point scored to take the final set 15-12 and take the match win 3-2 over Tucker County.

 

PETERSBURG – The Lady Mt. Lions traveled to Petersburg on Thursday September 9th for a JV and Varsity contest.  In the JV contest Petersburg won both sets by the score of 25-7 and 25-17.  In the Varsity match the Lady Vikings took the first set 25-18.  The second set also went to Petersburg by the score of 25-10.  The home team also took the third set 25-17 to win the match 3-0.

The Lady Mt. Lions will return to action on Thursday September 16th at Moorefield.  Tucker County will then travel to East Hardy on Tuesday September 21st for a Quad match starting at 5pm.  For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
