MT. LIONS BASEBALL FALL AT PENDLETON, BEAT POCAHONTAS COUNTY

FRANKLIN – The Mt. Lions traveled to Pendleton County on Tuesday April 16th. Tucker County fell behind early and could not recover as they fell in the contest by the final score of 13-3.


The Wildcats scored 2 runs in the 1st inning and 9 runs in the 2nd inning to give Pendleton County 11 runs. The Mt. Lions would score 3 runs in the contest, but that wasn’t enough as Pendleton County got the win 13-3. Shane Humphrey took the loss on the mound for Tucker County. The Mt. Lions were led at the plate by Zach Colebank and Shane Humphrey as they collected 2 hits each for Tucker County in the loss.

ELKINS – Tucker County hosted Pocahontas County for a doubleheader in Elkins on Wednesday April 17th. In Game 1 the Mt. Lions got behind early as Pocahontas County scored in the 2nd inning to lead 1-0. Tucker County then took the lead as they scored 3 runs in the 3rd inning and never looked back. The Mt. Lions outscored the Warriors 2-1 the rest of the game to claim the 5-2 Game 1 victory. Tucker County collected 13 hits in the contest. Cole Rapp, Tyler Malone and Shane Humphrey each managed 3 hits for the Mt. Lions. Easton Snyder and Corrick Ambrose also chipped in with hits in the contest for Tucker County. Cameron Wamsley got the win on the mound for the Mt. Lions.

In Game 2 Tucker County took an early led against Pocahontas County and a big 6th inning for the Mt. Lions sealed the victory. Tucker County’s Alec Cummings, Zach Colebank, Shane Humphrey, Corrick Ambrose and Myles Paugh all moved runners across the plate with RBI’s in the 7-run inning. Tucker County capitalized on the big inning and picked up the victory by the final score of 11-4. Zach Colebank got the win on the mound for the Mt. Lions as he went 7 innings with 10 strikeouts. Tucker County collected 10 hits in the game as Colebank led the Mt. Lions at the plate with a 3 for 4 performance.

Tucker County(4-9) will return to action tonight Wednesday April 24th at Union at 5pm. The Mt. Lions will then host Paw Paw on Friday April 26th at 5pm. For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
