Seven Tucker County youth recently showcased their shooting skills on a statewide stage, representing their community in the West Virginia Knights of Columbus Free Throw State Competition.

All seven competitors first claimed school and then district titles to earn their place at the state level, and Tucker County was well represented throughout the competition. In an impressive showing, every Tucker participant left the state event with either a championship or runner-up finish.

Bringing home first-place honors were Westyn Huffman in the 12-year-old division, Kevin Kerr in the 14-year-old division, Elaina Pregley in the 12-year-old female division, and Adalyn Johnson in the 13-year-old female division.

Earning runner-up honors were Presleigh Rosenau in the 9-year-old division, Cambrie Freeman in the 10-year-old division, and Elijah O’Brien in the 13-year-old division.

For Tucker County’s seven representatives, the results speak for themselves. With four state champions and three runners-up, the group delivered a remarkable performance and denoted their schools and community with pride.
