By: Adam Freeman

Tucker County Baseball team continues with their season of growing pains, having dropped four more games this past week. The young group of Mt. Lions first took on the Rams of Southern Garett (MD) April 29th. Tucker’s Blake Helmick would register a double while Owen Helmick, Gavin Nestor and Ty Ricotilli would all register singles.

The Rams would take the win back to Oakland with a final score of 27-0. Tucker would then take on Trinity Christian on Wednesday, April 30th, the Mt. Lions were in this game from start to finish and gave themselves a chance to win but ultimately fell short, falling 7-2. Senior, Reese Poling pitched 5.2 innings only surrendering 8 hits. Lucas Barb led the way on offense notching a double and 1 run scored. Tucker were then home again to take on the Philip Barbour Colts on Thursday May 1st.

The young Mt. Lions would fail to register a hit in the contest against the Colts, as PB would take the win back home to Philippi. Tucker would finish the week at home for senior night against one of the top contenders in single A in the Pendleton County Wildcats. Tucker would celebrate the careers of 5 senior athletes in: Gavin Nestor, Blake Helmick, Reece Poling, Brayden Grey, and Damian Rhodes.

Tucker would manage just two hits on the bout, one from Owen Helmick and one from Damian Rhodes. This would not be enough offensive, firepower to overcome the Wildcats as Tucker was beaten 19-0. Tucker will next travel to Trinity Christian on Monday, May 5th at 6:30pm, at Gilmer County on Tuesday May 6 that 4:30pm and finish their regular season on Wednesday, May the 7th at Tygarts Valley at 6:00pm.

Cade Rapp gets ready to send in the pitch.
