TCHS Volleyball Wins at Tygarts Valley, Falls to Union

MILL CREEK – The Lady Mt. Lions Volleyball team traveled to Tygarts Valley on Tuesday September 22nd for a varsity only best of 5 set match. Tucker County got out to a good start as they won the first set 25-10. In the second set the Lady Bulldogs showed some fight, but Tucker County took set 2 by the score of 25-17. Tygarts Valley could not force another set as the Lady Mt. Lions won set 3 to take the match 3-0 and capture the win.

HAMBLETON – Tucker County hosted Union for a JV and Varsity match at TCHS on Thursday September 24th. In the JV contest the Lady Mt. Lions got the win as they defeated Union in 2 out of 3 sets(12-25, 25-23, 25-14) to pick up the win.

In the Varsity match Union jumped out to an early 9-1 lead in the first set. Tucker County could never make a run to get back in the set as they fell in set 1 to Union 25-10. In set 2 the Lady Mt. Lions took the early 7-2 lead, but the Lady Tigers fought back to trail 13-12. Both teams then battled to a 19-19 tie toward the end of the set. The Lady Mt. Lions then led 23-21 before Union finished the set on a 4-0 run to take set 2 by the score of 25-23. Tucker County was now had their backs against the wall as they needed to win set 3 to keep the match alive. The Lady Mt. Lions jumped up early in the third set 8-2. Then an 8-2 run by Union tied the score at 10-10. The Lady Tigers then built a slim lead midway through the set 15-12. Union then extended their lead as they ended the set on a 10-6 run to win the third set 25-18 to take the match win 3-0.
