HAMBLETON – The Lady Mt. Lions hosted “AA” Frankfort on Monday January 9th.
Tucker County trailed after one, but the Lady Mt. Lions outran the Lady Falcons after that to pick up the big win at home 69-49.
Tucker County scored 18 in the first quarter, but Frankfort scored 20 points to lead after one quarter 20-18. The Lady Mt. Lions built a lead in the second as they outscored the Lady Falcons 17-9 in the second to take a 35-29 halftime lead.
The full court pressure continued for Tucker County in the third quarter and the Lady Mt. Lions built on their lead as they outpaced Frankfort 15-8 in the third to lead 50-37. Tucker County came out in the fourth with the same game plan as they extended the lead with a 19-12 advantage in the final quarter to take home the victory 69-49.
Sydney Nestor led Tucker County with 23 points, 7 rebounds and Sydney Moore added 12 points. Elizabeth Nichols had 10 points, 7 rebounds for Tucker County and Terra Kuhn chipped in with 9 points in the win. The Tucker County JV team picked up the victory in the first contest 39-33.
CLARKSBURG – Tucker County traveled to Notre Dame on Thursday January 12th for a Varsity only contest. The Lady Mt. Lions jumped out to an early lead and never looked back to take the victory on the road 67-30.
The first quarter belonged to Tucker County as they jumped up on the Lady Irish and cruised to an 18-1 lead after one quarter of play. Notre Dame continued to struggle on offense as the Lady Mt. Lions outran the Irish 18-11 in the second quarter to give Tucker County a 36-12 lead at the halftime intermission.
The third quarter was not any different than the first two quarter for Notre Dame as Tucker County outscored the Lady Irish 18-10 to make the score 54-held a slim 13-8 advantage to take home the road victory by the final score of 67-30.
Sydney Nestor led Tucker County with 20 points. Terra Kuhn added 11 points, 6 rebounds for Tucker County and Dominique Meadows chipped in with 10 points off the bench. Elizabeth Nichols scored 9 points for the Lady Mt. Lions and collected 6 rebounds while dishing out 6 assists.
