TUCKER COUNTY SOFTBALL FALL TO PENDLETON, EAST HARDY, GRAFTON

FRANKLIN – The Lady Mt. Lions Softball traveled to Pendleton County for a doubleheader on Monday April 1st. In the first contest Pendleton County held Tucker County scoreless to take the victory by the final score of 10-0. Hailey Tuttle had a triple in the 3rd inning to produce the only hit for the Lady Mt. Lions in the game.

In Game 2 of the evening Kristen Hicks has a base hit and scored on a Cheyenne Gooden RBI single in the 1st inning, but Tucker County could not score again as they fell in the contest to Pendleton County 13-1. Aliyah Plum added a base hit for Tucker County in the loss.

CAMP KIDD – Tucker County hosted East Hardy on Wednesday April 3rd. The Lady Mt. Lions collected 7 base hits in the contest, but that wasn’t enough as the Lady Cougars took the victory 13-3.

Kristen Hicks started the game on the mound and went 4 innings before the game ended by 10 run mercy-rule. Gracie Rapp singled and scored on a Cheyenne Gooden double to cut the East Hardy lead to 2-1 after 1 inning. East Hardy scored 3 runs in the 2nd inning to make the score 5-1 Lady Cougars. A triple by Anna DiBacco and a single by Hailey Tuttle scored a run in the 2nd inning to make the score 5-2 East Hardy after 2 innings. The Lady Cougars added 5 more runs in the third to push their lead to 10-2. A Rapp single in the third would score Hicks, but the Lady Cougars added 3 runs in the 4th inning to pull away for the 13-3 victory over Tucker County.

GRAFTON – The Lady Mt. Lions traveled to Grafton on Friday April 5th to face the Lady Bearcats. Tucker County fought hard in the contest, but they fell in the game by the final score of 19-11.

Trailing 1-0 after 1 inning the Lady Mt. Lions got the bats going. McKinley Murphy and Hailey Tuttle connected on base hits to score runs. Then a triple by Aliyah Plum would bring in 2 more runs. Grafton rallied back in the bottom of the 2nd inning to tie the game after 2 innings 4-4. Anna DiBacco stole home in the 3rd inning to give the Lady Mt. Lions a brief 5-4 lead. The Lady Bearcats then exploded in the 4th inning to lead 12-5 after 4 innings. In the 5th inning Tucker County scored 4 runs after a double by Murphy, home steal by DiBacco and a sac fly by Erin Cassidy made the score 12-9 Grafton. The homestanding Lady Bearcats answered again with 4 runs in the 5th inning to push the lead to 16-9. Base hits by Gracie Filler, Kristen Hicks, Cheyenne Gooden and Murphy would score 2 runs for Tucker County in the 6th inning. Grafton would end the game in the bottom of the 6th as they extended the lead to 19-11 to end the game on the 8 run mercy rule. The Lady Mt. Lions ended the game with 9 base hits on the evening.

Tucker County will return to action tonight Wednesday April 10th at Elkins at 6pm. The Lady Mt. Lions will then travel to Pocahontas County on Thursday April 11th for a doubleheader at 5pm and 7pm. Tucker County will finish the week at Liberty Harrison on Saturday April 13th at 12pm. For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
