TUCKER COUNTY VOLLEYBALL FALLS TO ELKINS AND PETERSBURG

HAMBLETON – The Lady Mt. Lions Volleyball team hosted Elkins on Tuesday September 20th.  The match started with Tucker County taking an early lead 7-1 in Set 1.  The Lady Mt. Lions built the lead to 18-10.  The Lady Tigers would fight to tie the score at 23-23.  The set went back and forth the rest of the way as Elkins pulled out the Set 1 win 27-25.  In Set 2 Tucker County once again led 3-1 early.  The Lady Tigers then tied the score at 5-5 and then Elkins started to build a lead.  The visitors built a 11-7 lead, but the Lady Mt. Lions battled back to tie the score at 16-16.  Elkins then ended Set 2 with a 9-4 run to win Set 2 by the score of 25-20.  Tucker County now needed to win Set 3 to extend the match.  The Lady Mt. Lions got down early in Set 3 by the score of 9-4.  The Lady Tigers then extended their lead to 18-7 in the set.  Tucker County made a 6-0 run to get the score to 18-13 Elkins.  The Lady Mt. Lions could not force another set as Elkins outscored the Lady Mt. Lions 7-2 the rest of the set to get the Set 3 win by the score of 25-15.  This gave Elkins the Match win 3-0.  The Tucker County JV team also fell to Elkins in straight sets 25-8 and 25-19.

 

PETERSBURG – Tucker County traveled to Petersburg on Wednesday September 21st for a JV and varsity match.  In the JV match the Lady Vikings got past the Tucker County JV in straight sets 25-10 and 25-20.

In Set 1 of the Varsity match Tucker County fell by the score of 25-12.  The Lady Mt. Lions battled back to win Set 2 by the score of 25-18 to tie the Match at 1-1.  Petersburg would control Set 3 as the Lady Vikings got the set win 25-18 to go up 2-1 in the Match.  Set 4 was competitive as both teams battled, but the Lady Vikings pulled away for a 25-21 win in Set 4 to give Petersburg the Match win 3-1.

 

Tucker County(3-4) will host Moorefield on Thursday September 29th at 6pm and then the Lady Mt. Lions will host Preston on Tuesday October 4th at 6pm.  For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
