img_6577The fourth home/business to be featured on PRO ON TRAC’s Christmas House Tours on Dec. 9 is known as “The Willows” on 219 N just outside of Parsons. Formerly a Bed and Breakfast, the home is owned by John and Linda Tucci.
Based on a southern manor visited while vacationing in the south, Paul Mauzy (known to many as PJ) dreamed of building this house for his family and began construction in 1984. Building was completed in 1985, just before The Flood.
The original home was built in classic southern manor style, with 10 foot ceilings throughout and large rooms, symmetrically arranged, placed lovingly among orchard, forest and sweeping lawn.
The additional family room has a massive stone fireplace serving as a wonderful center for enjoying the company of many family and friends.
The kitchen, the heart of any home, has beautiful wormy chestnut cabinets constructed by our own Frank Roberts as his first cabinet building project.
The Mauzy family lived here many years and raised four children in this wonderful place. Additionally, many friends, children and adults, spent happy hours enjoying the outdoors often on four wheelers, or indoors planning yard sales, or a host of other memorable activities.
In 2010, John and Linda Tucci acquired the property, made renovations to open an assisted living facility, which came to fruition in October 2011. After several months, the assisted living business closed. Then John and Linda made it their home, and The Willows Guest Rooms Bed and Breakfast was born in April 2012. Many who visited the B&B were old time friends and family of the people of Parsons and enjoyed feeling at home in The Willows.
In March of 2016 the Tucci’s decided to retire and the bed and breakfast has been winding down since then. Going forward, there are many happy possibilities for this special Parsons home. Come and enjoy the granger of this beautiful home and business.
The Christmas House Tours will run from 5 – 9 pm, Friday, Dec. 9. Tickets may be purchased at City Hall or Parsons Shop ‘n Save through the 9th and at all 5 tour locations that evening at the door for $5. Guests may go to the homes in any order they choose. Participants will be asked to remove their shoes or don hospital shoe coverings (provided) to keep the floors clean. A raffle item will be available at each site for tickets costing $1 each or 6 for $5. We suggest carpooling with friends and/or family to ease parking congestion and to have more fun! This event is sponsored by Mtn. Valley and Citizen’s Banks. All proceeds benefit the revitalization of
