THOMAS, WV – Sunrise Sanitation Services, Inc. provides residential, commercial and industrial solid waste removal services in Grant, Mineral, Pendleton, Preston, Randolph, and Tucker Co. in WV and Garrett Co. in MD as well as select services in Somerset Co. Pa.

Sunrise also operates six 24/7 Recycling Drop-Off Sites to local area businesses and residents as a free service to the communities in the following areas:  Thomas,  Gormania, Canaan Valley, Hendricks, Parsons, and Mt. Storm, for the past sixteen years.

Sunrise currently accepts the following materials at our six recycling sites:  cardboard, magazines, office paper, newspaper, aluminum cans, steel cans, and #1 and #2 plastic.

Sunrise will be modifying the materials that is collected at these recycling sites due to extensive and pervasive contamination at our current sites.  The contamination that we have encountered at our processing facility in Thomas,  include but is not limited to: household trash, animal carcasses, feces, hypodermic needles, and hazardous waste.

While we care about our environment and extol the virtues of recycling, we ultimately value the health and human safety of our employees over everything else.

Effective February 1, 2020, Sunrise will only accept corrugated cardboard and aluminum cans at all recycling centers that we operate.  Sunrise will no longer accept magazines, newspapers, office paper, #1, and #2 plastic at our free 24/7 public drop-off centers.

In addition to the change of recyclable material we accept, Sunrise will also be closing the Mt. Storm,  recycling center due to a lack of public interest.
