PARSONS – A Tucker County woman pleaded no contest to one count of third degree sexual abuse in Tucker County Circuit Court. Amanda Sammons, 31, of Hambleton appeared with her attorney Jeremy Cooper.
The plea is part of a deferred adjudication and Sammons will be required to check in with Tucker County Community Corrects for two years. During that time, she may not consume alcohol or use drugs. She will have to put in 100 hours of community service.
If she completes the two years without incident, she will not be registered as a sex offender and charges will not be entered.
Heather Weese, guardian for the victim, said the victim’s family was not happy with the plea agreement. She said they would feel better if there was a conviction and if Sammons had to register as a sex offender.
Also appearing in Tucker County Circuit Court:
– Robin Maxson appeared with his attorney Jeremy Cooper. His next hearing is slated for 9:30 a.m. Sept. 13 for possible entry of a plea agreement.
– Kenneth Bott appeared with his attorney Brent Easton. Bott was in court because LaMora said two payments were missed in an agreement to repay hotel/motel tax and each of the payments were late. Tucker County Circuit Court Judge Jay Courrier said he would give Bott the benefit of the doubt and said that Bott needed to pay as close to $70 per month as he could and said that payments should be made by the 10th of the month. He asked Bott to make $10 additional payment for seven months to make up for the missed payment.
Courrier told Bott if Tucker County Prosecuting Attorney had to bring the case back to court, he would have no other option but to impose the felony charges on Bott. He asked that receipts be sent to Bott for his payments and asked if payments get behind again, to first notify Bott’s attorney Brent Easton.
