LADY MT. LIONS RUN BY MOOREFIELD AT HOME 65-27

HAMBLETON – The Tucker County Girls’ Basketball team hosted Moorefield on Tuesday January 25th.   The Lady Mt. Lions jumped out to an early 9-1 lead and never looked back to take the game by the final score of 65-27.

 

The first quarter was dominated by Tucker County as they scored 11 first quarter points and they held the Lady Yellowjackets without a field goal in the first quarter.  Moorefield scored 2 points in the quarter all from the foul line to make the score 11-2 Tucker County after one quarter of play.

 

Moorefield cut the lead to 11-7 early in the second quarter, but back to back three point baskets by Tucker County’s Jayden Kuhn and Avery Colebank would push the Lady Mt. Lions lead back to 17-7 with 6 minutes left in the second.  Tucker County would then go on a 9-0 run to push the home teams lead to 26-7 with 3 minutes left in the half.  The Lady Mt. Lions would outscore Moorefield 23-11 in the second quarter to make the halftime score 34-13 Tucker County.

 

The third quarter would belong to the Lady Mt. Lions as they outpaced the Lady Yellowjackets 17-6 in the period to push the Lady Mt. Lions lead to 51-19 after three quarters of play.  The fourth quarter was controlled by Tucker County 14-8 as the Lady Mt. Lions picked up a big win at home against Moorefield by the final score of 65-27.

Jayden Kuhn led Tucker County in scoring with 19 points, 5 steals and Brylee Wetzel scored a 15 points, while collecting 5 steals for the Lady Mt. Lions.  Macy Helmick added 12 points, 4 steals and Kadie Colebank scored 8 points, pulled down a team high 14 rebounds, while collecting 9 blocks in the game for Tucker County in the win.  The Lady Mt. Lions JV team got the win in the first game 43-33.

 

Tucker County(11-4) will return to action on Thursday February 3rd at Tygarts Valley.  The Lady Mt. Lions will then host Pocahontas County on Saturday February 5th for a make up game.  The JV game for both games will start at 5:45pm with the Varsity game to follow.  For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
