LADY MT. LIONS VOLLEYBALL FALL AT ELKINS, WIN AT UNION

ELKINS – The Tucker County Volleyball team traveled to Elkins on Wednesday September 27th.  In the JV match the Lady Tigers took the match 2-0 with scores of 25-8 and 25-7.

In the varsity match the first set was a classic as it went back and forth throughout.  The set had 14 tie scores in the set as Tucker County got an early 8-5 lead.  Elkins fought back to take a 14-9 lead.  The Lady Mt. Lions then tied the score 16-16.  The set then was a battle as there were ties at 17-17, 18-18, 24-24, 25-25, 26-26, 27-27, 28-28 and 29-29.  The Lady Tigers then took the set by the final score of 31-29, as the winner must win by 2 points.  In Set 2 Elkins jumped out to a 10-5 lead.  The visiting Lady Mt. Lions surged back to tie the score at 13-13.  The homestanding Lady Tigers then pulled away to a 21-14 lead.  Tucker County could not recover as Elkins won Set 2 by the score of 25-16.  The Lady Tigers would control Set 3 as they got a 10-5 lead early on.  Elkins then went on a 15-6 run to take Set 3 by the score of 25-11 and the Set win gave Elkins the Match win 3-0.

 

  1. STORM – The Lady Mt. Lions Volleyball team traveled to Union on Thursday September 28th for a varsity only match.  In Set 1 both teams battled as Tucker County started the set with a 9-4 lead.  The Lady Tigers battled back to tie the score at 14-14.  Union then got a 22-20 lead, but the score was tied at 23-23, 24-24.  Tucker County then finished the set with a 26-24 Set 1 win.  The second set was also highly competitive as Union exploded to an 8-2 lead.  The Lady Mt. Lions would respond as they tied the score at 11-11.  Tucker County then maintained the lead throughout as they won Set 2 by a close score of 25-23.  In Set 3 the Lady Mt. Lions led early 3-1.  Then the score was close midway through the set as Tucker County led 13-12.  The visiting Lady Mt. Lions then pulled away as Union was unable to force a fourth set as Tucker County would win Set 3 by the score of 25-18.  That would give the Lady Mt. Lions the Match win 3-0.
