PARSONS – The Mt. Lions Football team hosted Pendleton County on Friday September 29th.  Tucker County scored four touchdowns in the second quarter to pull away for the 54-8 win over Pendleton County.

Tucker County won the coin toss and deferred their option to give the Wildcats the ball to start the game.  Pendleton County could not convert and were forced to punt.  The snap went over the punter’s head and the Mt. Lions got the ball at the Wildcats 43.  Tucker County picked up one first down before they fumbled the ball back to Pendleton County on their play.  The Wildcats drove the ball into Mt. Lions territory, but they failed on a fourth down play to give it to Tucker County.  The first quarter would end with the score still at 0-0.

In the second quarter the Mt. Lions got on the scoreboard on a fourth down and 7 play.  Ethan Rosenau connected with Garrett Wilfong with a 15 yard touchdown pass.  The 2 point conversion was good on a pass to Wilfong to make the score 8-0 Tucker County with 11:43 left in the second quarter.  The Mt. Lions would score again after an interception by Jared Reall that was returned to the Wildcats 7 yard line.  Rosenau would then hook up with Maddox Anderson on a 5 yard touchdown pass with 9:35 left in the second.  The PAT was good on a pass play to Blaike Adams to put the score to 16-0.  Tucker County would add another touchdown with 5:59 left in the first half on a 20 yard touchdown pass from Rosenau to Anderson.  The PAT was good on another pass to Wilfong to push the Mt. Lions lead to 24-0.  The Mt. Lions then scored on a big 51 yard touchdown pass from Rosenau to Wilfong with 1:44 left in the second.  The PAT was good again with a pass to Anderson to make the score 32-0.  On the ensuing kickoff Pendleton County returned the kick 60 yards for a touchdown.  The 2 point conversion was good on a run play to put the score to 32-8 with 1:30 left in the second.  The first half would end with the halftime score 32-8 Tucker County.

In the third quarter the Mt. Lions would strike again on a 14 yard touchdown pass from Rosenau to Anderson.  The PAT was good on an Adams run to extend the Tucker County lead to 40-8 with 8:31 left in the third quarter.  The Mt. Lions would find the endzone again in the third on another fourth down and 7 play.  Rosenau would throw a 21 yard touchdown pass to Wilfong with 3:37 left in the third.  The 2 point conversion failed to make the score 46-8 after three quarters on play.

The fourth quarter would see reserve players in the game for both teams.  The quarter also had a running clock because of the score differential.  The Mt. Lions would score one more time on a Luke Barb 3 yard touchdown run.  The PAT was good on a run by Mickey Mitchell to put the score to 54-8 with 10:14 left in the fourth quarter.  The game would end with the final score of 54-8 Tucker County.
